About the Book
"The BJP-RSS's ascent to power at the Centre has led to the increased assertion of Hindutva politics, which is focused on Hindu nationalism in contrast to the Indian nationalism envisaged by the freedom movement and the Indian Constitution.

One of the components of Hindu nationalism is to perpetuate the caste hierarchy in new forms. In this direction, RSS and it affiliates are adopting multiple strategies. On one hand, they pay obeisance to Babasaheb Ambedkar and on the other they promote the values of caste inequality in the name of “our glorious heritage”. At the same time, RSS floats organizations like Samajik Samrasta Manch to co-opt the Dalits into Brahmanic fold.

This book examines the issues raised by the politics of RSS and its effort to suppress the Dalit aspirations of social justice and equality. It refers to writings of Babasaheb to show that RSS-Hindutva politics stands in total opposition to the ideology of Ambedkar and Dalits’ emancipation."

       
 

Palestine Essays — Winning Essays in the Palestine Essay contest organized by The Milli Gazette

The Milli Gazette organised an essay competition in 2015 to spread awareness about the Palestinian tragedy which continues to fester in the Middle East as a result of the Israeli occupation and refusal to concede to the Palestinian rights supported by hundreds of UN resolutions, umpteen stands taken by governments around the world and international forums.
A committee of experts examined the essays submitted and declared winners. The topics for the essays were.

iii. Modern Palestinian resistance to colonisation and judisation - a brief history (1918-2015);

Riba kya hai? —  Islami Ma’ashiyat mein sab se zyada ghalati ki shikaar istilaah (Urdu)

A number of works deal with the issue of riba (usury) in Islam, but none of them is as comprehensive as this work which first appeared in 1936. This new edited version, together with Arabic and English translations, has been brought out in order to enrich the debate on this vital issue. The author, Allamah Iqbal Suhail (d. 1955), was a highly learned scholar of Islam and had deep knowledge of modern issues. He is known in the Subcontinent as a distinguished Urdu poet, freedom fighter and lawyer. With this background, he was most suited to deal with religious issues in the light of the requirements of the modern age. Allamah Suhail discusses the opinions of the fuqaha in detail and shows that they confused riba with muratala (barter) and sarf (exchange) which have little to do with riba. He shows that riba concerns only the bai al-salaf (credit/deferred) transactions. After a thorough discussion of the Islamic texts on the issue, Suhail puts forward his authoritative definition of riba and where it is applicable. یہ کتاب اسلامی معاشیات میں سب سے زیادہ غلطی کی شکار اصطلاح پر ایک مستند کام ہے۔ ’’ربا‘‘ یا سود کے بارے میں بہت کچھ لکھا جا چکا ہے، لیکن اس موضوع پر موجودہ کتاب سے زیادہ وقیع اور جامع کوئی اور مطالعہ نہیں ہے۔ یہ کتاب پہلی بار ۱۹۳۶ء میں ’’حقیقت الربا‘‘ کے نام سے شائع ہوچکی ہے۔ اب اس کا تحقیق شدہ ایڈیشن عربی اور انگریزی ترجموں کے ساتھ خواص اور عوام کے استفادے کے لئے شائع کیا جارہا ہے۔ کتاب کے مصنف علامہ اقبال سہیل کی ایک اہم خوبی یہ ہے کہ وہ عربی واسلامی علوم سے پوری طرح بہرہ ور ہونے کے ساتھ جدید معارف سے بھی پوری طرح مستفید تھے۔ علامہ شبلی نعمانی اور مولانا حمید الدین فراہی جیسے جید علماءِ دین سے شرف تلمذ حاصل کرنے کے بعد آپ نے علی گڑھ مسلم یونیورسٹی سے اعلیٰ تعلیم حاصل کی، اور ایک بلند پایہ شاعر، مجاہد آزادی اور قانون داں کی حیثیت سے پہچانے گئے۔ عصر حاضر کی ضروریات کی روشنی میں دینی مسائل پر نظر ڈالنے کے لئے وہ بہترین اہلیت کے حامل تھے۔ مصنف نے تفصیل سے مسئلے کا جائزہ لیتے ہوئے بتایا ہے کہ فقہاء نے ربا کو ’’مراطلت‘‘اور ’’بيع صرف‘‘سے خلط ملط کردیا ہے، جب کہ اس کا تعلق صرف بیع سلف (نسیئہ )سے یعنی ادھار کے معاملات سے ہے۔ مسئلہ زیر بحث پر جملہ آیات قرآنی، احادیث نبوی اور فقہی آراء کا بھر پور جائزہ لینے کے بعد آپ نے’’ ربا‘‘ کی جامع تعریف پیش کی ہے اور حالات حاضرہ کو ملحوظ رکھا ہے تاکہ‌مسلمان بین الاقوامی اقتصاد میں ٹاٹ باہر نہ رہ جائیں۔

Indian Nationalism versus Hindu Nationalism — Politics of the RSS combine

We are witnessing a concerted attempt by the RSS to establish MS Golwalkar as the ‘prophet of a resurgent India,’ ‘a saint,’ ‘the best son of Bharat mata,’ and the ‘biggest gift to Hindu society in the 20th Century,’... This in spite of the fact that Golwalkar, throughout his life, remained committed to the concept of Hindutva which meant an inherent faith in Casteism, Racism and Totalitarianism. He stood for the establishment of a Hindu rashtra, or nation, where minorities like Muslims and Christians could exist only as second class citizens.
 

This book attempts to put across actual facts about Golwalkar’s life and beliefs in the light of his original writings, publications of the RSS, documents available in its archives and many other RSS documents the writer collected over the last 35 years from different parts of the country, especially the original text of his book We or Our Nationhood Defined (1939) which is being fully reproduced in this book.
